Whilst Adult Services might be a smaller cost component in our overall spending that does not properly represent the level of demand for support to our young people, many of who have been service users of Enable Ability since a young age.

Our experience with young people in seeing them mature and develop over the years with us has been rewarding but the facts of life are that funding from many sources for older children with physical disabilities or learning difficulties is less attractive for many funding bodies and thus it is an on-going struggle to fully support their obvious needs.

A disappointment in the whole system is the ability to secure our young people’s future beyond the age of 25 by getting them into meaningful employment. Enable Ability is committed to doing something about this through the establishment of a social enterprise and working with various local agencies to address this need. Watch this space!
