The Playscheme operates at Redwood Park Academy in Cosham and is part-funded by Portsmouth City Council specifically for children living within Portsmouth postcodes PO1 to PO6 who have been diagnosed with severe physical disabilities, severe learning difficulties or autism. The service addresses the needs of children who require a 1:1 supervision ratio or higher and which cannot be accommodated on other playschemes.

Transport may be available to collect and return children each day if required in specialised minibuses operated by MIDAS-trained drivers and trained passenger assistants.

There is a daily charge for the service (and additionally for transport) which can be paid for using pre-payment cards issued by Portsmouth City Council.

Applications for attendance at the Playscheme can be made for forthcoming holiday periods by contacting the office to request a current form. All applications are subject to approval by the appointed panel.

Whilst it is Enable Ability’s policy not to exclude any child from attending a project for purely financial reasons -and help may be available- the charity does implement specific procedures to safeguard itself from having to meet costs unnecessarily.

If the parent (s) /carer(s) of a child wish to apply for an allocated place at the Enable Ability Playscheme and are unable to meet the full costs due to financial hardship they should request an application for financial assistance form from the main office or contact Richard Soutar on 02392 671846 or email:

How To Apply:

Children may be referred to Enable Ability by local agencies or can be self-referred by family members or carers.

For all initial referrals a home visit will be required to check eligibility and to create a care plan.

Contact email: or call 023 9267 1846 during office hours.
