Just before Christmas, thirteen young people from the Hampshire Youth Project were given a fantastic opportunity to get on the charity's minibus from collection points in Havant, Fareham and Bursledon and be taken to Basingstoke for an indoor skydiving experience with iFLY. Each of our brave individuals took the challenge in their stride by entering the powerful wind tunnel one by one, some even asked to be taken up high meaning they were flying several metres above the safety net.
However, all this would not have been possible for most our young people due to poor finances around this festive period. Despite iFLY giving our charity a significant discount, costs are still high for this incredible experience.
Earlier in the year, Harley Salter completed a number of different challenges with the disability of having recently had his foot amputated. Despite this obstacle hindering his mobility, Harley still completed all his challenges and raised a significant amount of money which was split between the Hampshire Youth Project, Wheelchair Basketball and the Rowan's Hospice. Harley and Vanessa (Harley's mother) both thought it would be a fantastic idea to use the money raised to pay for the young people on the Project to have an unforgettable experience, therefore meaning the young people were treated to a free iFLY experience which included two 1-minute flights.
The young people on the Project loved the experience and wanted to take this opportunity to thank Harley for giving them such an experience around the festive period. Harley has recently moved on from the Hampshire Youth Project to continue focusing on his fundraising efforts, we wish him every success!
Some great photos were taken of our young people enjoying the experience - see below.
