As we head towards the end of a very difficult year, on behalf of Trustees, I wish our staff, volunteers, partners, funders and all those who benefit from our services and activities, a safe and peaceful holiday. As I look back through 2020, I am immensely proud of the contribution Enable Ability has made to the families we support, and to the wider community during the pandemic. Many staff have gone well beyond what would have been expected of them, and I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their service and commitment. We ran play provision in small “bubbles” for children with disabilities, maintained online contact with many of our teenagers and young adults to ensure they were ok, and provided thousands of meals to vulnerable families in conjunction with partners and volunteers. As soon as we could, services and activities resumed, but with the relentless march of coronavirus in our community, many have needed to be suspended again. I know this is hugely frustrating for families, staff and volunteers, but the health and safety of all is our prime consideration. As we enter the highest tier, and face a potential further lockdown in the new year, we will endeavour to do all that we can to support families, individuals and the wider community in whatever way is safe and possible. Once the position is clear after the holiday period, I will let you know what we are able to do.
In the meantime, please stay safe, protect the most vulnerable and remember that we will have a vaccination soon, when we can get back to some kind of normality.
